Beta Questions
What is a Google Play beta test? +
Google Play Open Testing lets developers share pre-release app builds with selected users. Once you accept a beta invite, the Play Store automatically delivers beta updates to your device just like normal updates — no APK sideloading needed.
Is it free to join? +
Yes, completely free. Beta testing is always free. In fact, active testers often receive complimentary access to premium features in the apps they help test.
How much time does testing take? +
As much or as little as you like. There's no minimum commitment — even occasional feedback is valuable. If you're actively testing, expect one or two new builds per app per month.
Do I need a technical background? +
Absolutely not. The most useful feedback often comes from everyday users who simply use the app and report what felt confusing or broke. Technical detail is a bonus but never required.
What devices are most useful for testing? +
All devices are welcome, but foldables (especially the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and Galaxy Fold series) are particularly valuable as CSX apps are designed foldable-first. Different Android versions and screen sizes also help catch device-specific bugs.
Can I leave the beta programme? +
Yes, at any time. You can opt out of individual apps or the full programme by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email, or by emailing hello@csxdevelopers.co.uk. Google Play also lets you leave beta programs directly from the app's store page.
Will I be credited for my contributions? +
Long-term contributors who provide consistent, quality feedback are credited in the app's release notes and About screen. It's a small thank-you for the time and care testers put in.
